We also post photos and information on each dog and the daily life of the Rescue Centre and Sanctuary and the work we do here. 100 MILES IN MARCH FOR MARGO 100 MILES IN MARCH FOR MARGO 100 MILES IN MARCH FOR MARGO 100 MILES IN MARCH FOR MARGO Margo 4th March 2026 Margo is a beautiful, blind 2 year old girl, nicknamed 'Mad Margo' as she has an abundance of energy and despite being blind is always getting into mischief! Unfortunately she has had to have surgery this week to repair a displaced patella and torn cruciate ligament. She has a long road in front of her to get back to her crazy self. Unfortunately Margos vet bills to date is 1200 euros which will be funded by Barkinside. I am doing a sponsored walk of 100 miles in the first 3 weeks of March, (between 1st and 21st of March), with the aim of raising the amount needed to cover Margos vet bills. The walks will be varied including steep mountain hikes. I will record each walk/hike using Strava and publish the strava stats after each one. Help me to help Jaquie and Barkinside continue their vital work in helping Margo and many other dogs who find their way to Barkinside. Similarly to many of you, our basic running costs have increased sharply recently (for example our vets bills, which despite the kindness of our amazing vets, now run into the thousands of Euros every month. OUR MONTHLY VETS BILLS HAVE ALMOST DOUBLED BUT OUR INCOME HAS NOT We dont need to tell you that the economic outlook is bleak and shows no signs of slowing up. But giving in or stopping what we do is not an option for Barkinside. We cannot turn our back on the never ending flow of new cases who are desperate for our help, we also cannot suddenly withdraw the help and support for those who are permanent residents at the Sanctuary. Its not something we can consider. Our residents have experienced nothing except hellish conditions and abuse their entire lives. Their naturally trusting and loving natures have made them vulnerable to all kinds physical and mental violation. It is imperative that they have no doubt that never again will the trust they put in us be broken. Our commitment to them is for the whole of their lifetime, unfortunately maintaining this costs a lot of money. We cannot survive without all the help, donations and support we receive from our many friends. The more successful we are in our rescue mission, the higher our day-to-day costs are. Sharing online via social media and emails, in real life by word of mouth, and mentioning it as we go about our everyday lives. Our mantra is our promise, because everything that Barkinside does is done by volunteers, right from physical support at the Sanctuary, being involved in caring for or rescuing desperately hurt animals, through to action taken online, 100% of every cent or penny raised goes to help those we have rescued.
