Barkinside Sanctuary promotes those dogs in our care and gives regular updates on their progress and welfare. We also post photos and information on each dog and the daily life of the Rescue Centre and Sanctuary and the work we do here. Our spending on food, vets bills, special dietary requirements, medical care is a huge monthly expense and we are in a constant struggle with it daily. We always have over 30 dogs in our care and others coming in every week. We are lucky to have a good homing rate. The more we home the more we can save. All photos and information are current and are updated as often as we are able [as of today's date 12th June 2025] The dogs below are either resident at Barkinside Sanctuary , with fantastic fosters or desperately looking for a family to love them. We try to help any dogs we can, no matter of age, health, condition, or size. Some of them have been here for a short time and sadly some longer. Some will stay with us at the sanctuary for good. Some of them are small and some large. But they all just want to be loved. They all have big hearts and are waiting to share them with families, or with us here. They each have their own profiles or they are being created. Please take a look and give those that can find a home a chance. All dogs at the sanctuary have full medical and blood tests, full passport with innoculations and are sterilised or nuetured If you are interested in adopting or fostering one of our babies please contact me as I would hate to miss any comments. They are Tuesday to Friday from 10am to 2pm. Strictly by appointment only. On Saturday's we are now busy preparing for the boot fairs, and making some time for ourselves on Mondays gives us breathing space and time to unload the van, vets etc. Our working day averages 14 to 16 hours, with 36 dogs, horses, cats etc, so please be patient with us. She is coming to us tomorrow. Isn't she beautiful. 13th January 2026 Transport has been a bit of a problem but this beautiful little girl is arriving this afternoon. She will not be for homing, but to spend the rest of her days with us and the littlies in the sanctuary. Freddie AVAILABLE He is only about 5 months old and was found wandering in amongst dangerous traffic. He is now safe and looking for his forever home. We know she had leishmaniosis, but we need, through, bloodwork to see how she is doing. Our vet was very pleased, so we just wait for the results. We then decided to street test her with other dogs and people. She's awesome 8th May 2025 Yesterday our beautiful Pucca was taken on a walk by the lovely Adrian and Sue Swan, who brought her to us from Asoka. She's a wonderful girl. But we think their model fits Barkinside and our supporters well. This method of sponsorship opens up supporting Barkinside to a wider public, and turns what can be a bit of a boring (especially for younger people) donation system into a two way and fun interaction. Casa de Griffon Creating awareness of the plight of the beautiful Spanish dog known as Griffons Hi, I have run Casa de Griffon for 5 years, heres a bit about my background in animal rescue. After fostering several griffons in England and hearing about the terrible abuse that Spanish Griffon Dogs go through, I decided to make the move to Galicia, northern Spain. Casa de griffon was set up 5 years ago to save as many dogs as possible from the horrendous abuse that they suffer here. Since arriving Casa de Griffon has taken care of over 500 dogs in all shapes and sizes About Casa de Griffon The Galicians are a large hunting province and their dogs of choice tend to be Griffons, Beagles and Podencos. The pounds are overflowing with several hundred dogs who are locked in concrete cages 24/7 unless they are released to adopters and rescuers. From pregnant old girls to ex hunting dogs who have been beaten and tied to short chains, this is the continual abuse these beautiful dogs have to endure. Just over two years ago, a property was found in northern Galicia and we have been busy building indoor enclosures and secure outdoor exercise areas where the dogs are assessed and rehabilitated so they can be adopted to the forever homes.
